So, basically: Vying is a community for Voltron yaoi. As in Keith/Lance, Hunk/Pidge, Keith/Lance/Hunk/Pidge/Sven. It's a place to discuss Voltron and a hub for any Voltron yaoi fics.

Please note: Because WEP have several different versions of canon ages for these characters, the members of this community are posting under the assumption that ALL characters depicted are legally over the age of majority.

Below are the guidelines for posting and participating in this community. These are non-negotiable guidelines. If you do not follow them, then there will be consequences. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it's going to be.
RULES

0. BEFORE POSTING FIC OR ART, PLEASE READ POSTING GUIDLINES LOCATED FURTHER DOWN THE PAGE.

1. Since I'm all about encouraging the discussion, please feel free to post on any topic you wish to discuss so long as it's Voltron related. And, since this is an m/m focused community, any posts defending the Keith/Allura pairing are most assuredly going to be falling on deaf ears; and, possibly, will result in my (Todesengel) writing graphic Keith/Coran sex.

2. Authors you have two options for posting fics to the community. One, you can post to the community directly. Two, you can post the fic to your journal and then post a link to the comm. However, if you have an f-locked post, please post the story directly to the community. Artists, same choices for posting as the authors and post art behind a cut. And, both of you, put warnings before the story/art (see below for format).

2b. If you don't have an LJ account and have a fic/art you want to share, email me at bloodydagger2001 [at] yahoo [dot] com. I'll post with the appropriate credits.

2c. Stories of all lengths are welcomed here and will be cuddled by me. However, if the story is not a drabble (100 words) or a double drabble (200 words), post the fic behind a cut. There is no leeway. I don't care if it's 201 words, do the cut.

3. Flames will be dealt with by either banning or my becoming Micromanagement!Todesengel and not allowing comments until they've come through me. Which, y'know, would be really sucky because, quite frankly, I don't have the time for that. Constructive criticism, however, is not only encouraged but actively sought after.

4. When tagging fics using the Livejournal tags option (and I'd like all authors to please tag their own fics because, really, you know what categories your stories fall under best), please follow the established format. I'm fine with you creating your own tags so long as they look like all the rest of them. Standardization is a good thing, folks.
POSTING STORIES

When you post, put this information before the cut.

Title: (if applicable)

Rating: Work safe/Not work safe. Work safe is defined as not having graphic descriptions of hot man sex.

Squick factors (if any): See below for what constitutes squick. If there's no relevant tag or you feel that revealing the particulars would give away too much of the story a general "Look, this isn't all sunshine and flowers, there's some dark shit here and I feel it needs a warning" tag is also acceptable.

Pairing: (It's okay to use 'surprise', if the pairing is intended as a reveal. If this makes as much sense to you as Voltron/Robeast sex, email me and I'll try to clarify. Possibly with examples)

Series: (optional, I suppose. But if you don't have a pairing listed, please use this tag.)

Notes: Again, optional, just a little space so you can put things like 'giftfic' or 'I was prodded into doing this by [JoAnn's muse, for example]' or for anything that you feel you need to preface the fic with. Also, if you wrote a story because you were inspired by something someone else wrote, please put the reference to that story (a link, a mention, whatever) in here (see the Scruffy! stories for an example of what I'm talking about). Same thing goes if this is part of a series. Tell us which part of the series this story follows.

As an aside: The actual format of how these tags are shown before the cut is up to your discretion as long as all the relevant information is clear. That means I'm fine with formats such as JoAnn's, where a general "Warnings" line condenses the "Squick Factors" and "Ratings" line because the important info is clearly set apart from the story, etc.

Also, I'm instituting a three-strikes rule -- if I have to ride you on how you should post something (fics/pics behind a cut, especially if they're not work safe, rating level and squicks clearly indicated somewhere above the fic/pic) on three or more distinct submissions, then I will start deleting your posts until they are appropriately labled. Sorry to get all anal about this one, but please remember that people might be checking this site at work or on computers located in public areas where someone could quite easily read over their shoulder and not everyone is cool with that. I don't want to get anybody in trouble for doing something that they enjoy, and, really, I think that this is a fairly reasonable request.

POSTING ART

Rating: Work safe/not work safe. Full frontal man parts is not work safe. Smut is not work safe. Many of the Squick Factors are not work safe. Fully clothed boys holding hands and cuddling is work safe. And because yaoi_daily does a much better job of explaining this stuff:
Worksafe: Chaste kisses, light touching, snuggling, etc.
Not worksafe: Nudity, oral sex, anal sex, fingering, fluids, etc.

Squick factors: See below.
SQUICK FACTORS

Rape, Character Death (can be shorted to CD, Death), Bondage, Discipline, Excessive Violence, Stump/Amputee fic (fic where one character has a body part that's been chopped off and replaced by a cybernetic part), Necrophelia, Fur, Shota, Incest and Twincest (Pidge/Chip sex), Het.

More may be added.
CONDITIONALLY ACCEPTABLE SUBJECT MATTER

Furry: Furry is allowed only as a vehicle to explore the Voltron fandom. What this means is that furry may be posted but only after it has gone through me. Yes, I am having an egotrip over this whole mod thing.

Shota: Shota is allowable only if is holds to the standards described here. If you have doubts about whether or not your story conforms to these standards, run it past me.

Cyborgsex: Cyborg sex is only allowable if it takes one of the boys, gives him cybernetic/mechanical parts and then there's sex (see amputee fic). Cyborg sex is not allowed if it's about, say, Red Lion and Lance fucking. Lance having sex in the Red Lion, though, is really hot. So, to recap. Sex with the Lions = BAD. Sex in the Lions = Oh please yes. Robeast/Voltron sex is...possibly allowable. Send it my way first and we'll see.

Necrophilia: All necrophilia fics must be run by me first.

Heterosexual content: All het fics are welcome so long as the het stuff is not the focus of the story and the story can be clearly labeled as yaoi/slash/yuri.
GENERAL INFORMATION

The memories are currently sorted in three ways:

1. All the fics an author has written.

2. Pairings in a fic. Authors names have been included in the description of the fic for ease of identification.

3. Wingfic and Scruffy!Fic. These two particular fic-genres have been singled because they seem to be popular enough to warrant distinction.

Serial fics (fics that have/are a follow up) are indicated as such. I believe that the order in which they should be read is kind of, er, backwards in some cases, so just read them in the numbered order, not in the order that they appear in the memory categories.

Stories with a 'Redux' in the description are not part of a series, but a reposted fic.

Multiple/No Pairing fics are fics that contain either more than 2 pairings or lack a clearly defined pairing.

Pairings do not reflect Seme/Uke status, largely because I'm not sure of the order they're supposed to go in, as I, quite frankly, don't pay attention to things like that. So, pairing order is determined by the alphabet. Yes, sometimes that won't be the case. I'm inconsistent. Get used to it.

I apologize for the general chaos, but this seems like this is the best way to organize the memories. I suppose I could re-title the memory-entries with a more accurate description, but, really that's more effort than I'm willing to expend right now.
