"I text a postcard," Captain Keith Akira Kogane sang along with the radio in the car.  "Sent to you. Did it go through?  You are the moonlight of my life every night.  Giving all my love to you. My beating heart belongs to you."

"How sappy," Commander Lance Charles McClain grumbled.

"I like it," Keith grinned.

"You always have liked that kind of music.  That's the place," Lance pointed to a beat up, ancient diner somewhere in the middle of Nebraska's plains.  Their rented car was the only one in the parking lot.

"You sure?" Keith wrinkled his nose.  "It looks kind of well... not exactly safe."

"It's the place.  My parents and I used to eat here all the time when I was a kid," Lance said.

Thunder rumbled over head.  Keith winced.  He hated storms.  "I hope your parents come here before it starts storming."

"This isn't a storm," Lance brushed off the black clouds and flickering lightning.

"What do you mean?"

"The sky isn't green and the radio isn't broadcasting tornado warnings," Lance smirked.

"Yeah but the sky was blue just an hour ago," Keith shivered.

"Big baby. Come on," Lance opened the car door just as the heavens opened up.

"Let's just wait!"

"I'm hungry!" Lance yelled over the hail pounding down on the car.  "I'll beat you to the door!"

Keith gave Lance a wry grin and the two men made a mad dash towards the diner.  "Ouch!" Keith yelped as a large hail stone hit him in the shoulder.  They pushed open the door and entered.

A care worn, elderly waitress' eyes widened as she took in the slender, Japanese man with a nose ring, multiple piercings in his ears and a visible tattoo on his neck.  Lance yelled out "Hi, Alma! Remember me?"

"Little Lance McClain?  Who is your friend?"  She asked.

"That's Captain Kogane. But you can call him Keith," Lance answered.

"That's right, you went into the military," Alma relaxed.  "Well, sit down boys and I'll give you some coffee."

"Thanks," Lance lead Keith to a corner booth.  "This was our table. My family's table.  Over there, that's where old Farmer Nelson would sit," Lance started telling Keith the history of the diner and the people who would normally be there.  "This diner was built in the 1950's."

"Lance, that makes it over 230 years old!" Keith exclaimed.

"I know.  The food hasn't changed since that time either," Lance grinned.

"What do they eat in Buttfuck, Nebraska?" Keith asked sarcastically.

"Come on, you'll like it. It's just good home cooking.  And they make the best coffee here," Lance said.

Alma served the two men coffee.  Lance drank his black while Keith added sugar and creamer.  The storm raged on as they waited for Mr. and Mrs. McClain to show up.  After three hours, Keith and Lance finally broke down and ordered dinner: country fried steak for Lance and Keith settled on the only meatless dish they had in the dinner, oatmeal with toast and peanut butter.  "Are you sure you don't want some bacon to go with that?" Alma asked.  "It can't be healthy, not eating meat."

"I'm fine. I didn't eat meat growing up," Keith explained. Alma bit her lip, refraining from pointing out how small in frame Keith was.  "But this oatmeal is good.  I've never had it with dried fruit in it before."

"Thank you, Captain," Alma smiled at Keith.  "Do you boys want dessert?"

"We're waiting for my parents," Lance said.  "Keith and I are being sent off planet for a long term mission," He explained.

"Well, I'll be praying for you boys," Alma said.

"Thank you, Alma," Lance smiled at the older woman.

Just then the old com on the diner wall rang.  Alma ambled over and picked it up. "Hello, Ross' Diner."  She listened for a second then called out "Lance, honey, it's your mom."

Keith shot a worried look at Lance who shrugged and got up and walked to the com.  "Hey, Ma," Lance said.

"Lance, I'm sorry but your father isn't feeling well, so we won't be making it," Mrs. McClain said quietly.

"Sure thing, Ma, I understand," Lance said dully.

"Good luck on your mission," Mrs. McClain said then hung up.

Lance walked numbly over to his seat.  "Lance?" Keith asked.

"Ma said Dad wasn't feeling good," Lance answered.  "So they're not coming."

"I'm so sorry," Keith shook his head.

"That's OK, we'll have a better time with out them," Lance said bravely.  Keith raised an eyebrow and Lance's brave facade crumbled.  Tears dripped down his face.  Keith handed Lance a napkin and squeezed his hand.  Alma watched all this silently.  The next time old man McClain came into the diner, he'd end up eating a  lot of cold shoulder, she decided.  She patted Lance on the back.

Keith looked at the waitress.  "Can we have our bill?" He asked.  He looked out the window and the storm had abated slightly.  "The storm's easing up."

"No charge boys," Alma said after looking at the ancient cook who owned the diner.  He gave a thumbs up to Alma.  "After all, it would be a poor repaying of what you boys do for us if we couldn't send you off planet with a decent meal in your stomachs."

"Thank you," Keith smiled at the woman.

"Take good care of him," Alma ordered Keith.

"Yes, ma'am."

Keith lead Lance out of the diner and into their rental car.  Keith drove them to their motel, just outside the nearest town, about fifty miles from the diner.  Keith pulled into the parking lot in front of their door and the boys ran inside before it started pouring again.  Lance slumped down in a chair while Keith stripped off his wet shirt and turned up the heat in the room.  The temperature had dropped some 20 degrees since the storm started.  "Lance," Keith finally broke the silence.  Lance looked up at Keith.  "You OK?"

"I can't believe they couldn't make it, that they didn't even make an effort," Lance sobbed.  Keith wrapped his arms around Lance and hugged him close.  Lance cried on Keith's tattooed shoulder.  "I shouldn't be surprised," Lance said bitterly.  "He couldn't make it to my graduation from the Academy either."

"Then screw him," Keith said firmly.  "He doesn't deserve you as a son."

"Thanks, Keith," Lance wiped his eyes.  He rested against Keith's chest and traced the outline of one of Kieth's many tattoos, a roaring black lion, on his arm.  Keith stroked Lance's auburn hair.  The flashes of lightning brought out the blue in Keith's blue-black hair.  Keith shivered as thundered rumbled.  Lance played with one of Keith's nipple rings.  Keith purred at the sensation.  Keith lowered his mouth and kissed Lance.

The radio crackled with static then played again:

"I text a postcard, sent to you
Did it go through?
Sending all my love to you
You are the moonlight of my life every night
Giving all my love to you
My beating heart belongs to you
I walked for miles 'til I found you
I'm here to honor you
If I lose everything in the fire
I'm sending all my love to you
"

Keith slowly removed Lance's shirt and kissed Lance's nipples, sucking on them.  Lance arched up.  Keith unbuckled Lance's pants and pushed them down.  Then, he fell to his knees and took Lance into his mouth.  Keith swirled his tongue along the tip of Lance's penis, then swallowed Lance, deep throating him.  Keith reached up with his hand and massaged Lance's balls, feeling them draw up and tighten as Lance got close to release.  Lance pushed Keith's head away.  Keith looked up, confused.  "I want to be inside you when I come," Lance growled softly.

Keith stood up and dropped his pants.  He grabbed a bottle of lotion provided by the motel company and handed it to Lance.  Keith kissed Lance once more then lay on the bed.  Lance put a pillow under Keith's hips.

"With every breath that I am worth
Here on Earth
I'm sending all my love to you
So if you dare to second guess
You can rest assure
That all my love's for you
"

Lance bent down and used his tongue to loosen up Keith's opening.  Keith groaned and wiggled.  "More!" Keith demanded.  Lance withdrew his tongue and inserted a lotion-coated finger.  He rotated it then added a second and a third finger.  He coated his member with the lotion, and slowly pushed inside Keith.

"Oooooh, YES!" Lance shouted as he felt that tight heat close around him.

"My beating heart belongs to you
I walked for miles 'til I found you
I'm here to honor you
If I lose everything in the fire
I'm sending all my love to you
"

Lance thrust into Keith, quickly finding the sweet spot deep within Keith. Keith moaned as Lance raked the head of his member over and over that spot.  "Lance! I'm gonna....OOOOOH!" Keith yelled as he came suddenly.  The contractions of Keith's body carried Lance over into spilling his seed deep into Keith's bowels.  Lance collapsed onto of Keith.

"That was amazing Keith," Lance whispered, kissing the bruise on Keith's shoulder from the hail stone hitting it earlier in the day.  "And what I needed. Thank you, my friend."

"You're welcome.  What a better way to spend our last night on Earth?" Keith laughed.  "Than with each other."

"My beating heart belongs to you
I walked for miles 'til I found you
I'm here to honor you
If I lose everything in the fire
I'm sending all my love to you
"
